Dominique D. Calhoun is a native Texan. He attended Midwestern State University, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he earned a Bachelors of Science and Masters in Business Administration. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law, graduating in the top 10% of his class. During his tenure in law school, Calhoun was appointed by the Governor of Texas to serve as the Student Regent for Texas Southern University; he also served as the President of the Student Bar Association and on the school's law review.

Calhoun is Of-Counsel for Calhoun, Meredith, & Sims, PLLC, focusing on providing clients with exceptional counsel in multiple practice areas. Calhoun currently serves on the Executive Committee for the National Bar Association, Board Member for the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce's Foundation, member of the State Bar of Texas's Diversity in the Profession Committee, executive leadership team for My Brother's Keeper Houston, Executive Leadership Team for the March for Dimes Houston, and serves on multiple committees - on the national, regional, and local levels - for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
